If Ethan could walk easily after tonight she would be surprised. Afterall, she was doing a number on them. Luckily her heels weren't pummeling his feet it was just the front of her feet. She had no real kind of dancing skills. So they just swayed back and forth to the sound of the music that played on the balcony above them.
This is such a magical moment.
Zephyr was not the kind of girl that sat around hoping for a proposal. She loved Ethan and she knew that he loved her but it wasn't something she was going to force. Zephyr never really mentioned it. She had hinted a couple times but overall she knew that when Ethan was ready he would do it and if it took too long she would eventually get brave enough to do it herself. Honestly, she wasn't afraid to pull the trigger if it came to it but she was hoping that it would happen to her instead.
"It's been great. After everything that happened, it's been nice to get off the ship.. away from Delta, and just be us. I thought about visiting Earth while you were there. To see your mother, she's always asking for me to come out but I just.. am really glad we decided to spend our leave together."
Ethan was gearing up for something. She could sense the nerves running through his body. He was such a good man but she was somewhat afraid of what he was going to say. Was he transferring to another ship? Was he leaving Starfleet? Had he met some Earthen women that his mother would like better?
He began talking about how she had left the Intrepid for him. Of course she had. She had stayed there as long as she could but she had been keeping an eye on the Avenger all the time. Taking a chance to move to be closer to Ethan. Being closer to him was everything. Besides it had given them the chance to develop like a normal couple. NOt only that but it gave them time to really build up what they had together. Zephyr knew that it had been a gamble. She wasn't certain they would always be together but in her mind the gamble was worth it and it had more than paid off.
He brought up Earth when they were watching the consellations. Asking if she remembered. She nodded. She didn't get the crooks. Did they semi-strangle the sheep if they tried to run? It didn't seem so, she couldn't figure out what the hook was four and since they weren't really used anymore she couldn't see any in action. Ethan said he saw something else that night.
"You did? What did you see?" she asked completely oblivious.
He pushed her away and Zephyr's breath hitched slightly. He dropped to one knee. Zephyr stood there mesmerized as he told her that he had watched the constellation while he was visiting EArth and had finally decided that he wanted to make their life together on forwards. She gave a smile as the words she had figured she would hear at some point in her life finally came out.
Would she marry him.
"Of .. of course I will." she whispered.
The ring was absolutely beautiful. It was perfect. It was a big clear stone surrounded by several stones that were multi colored. She held out her hand and knocked Ethan's hand just slightly. nearly knocking the ring out of his hand and she grabbed his hand to steady it. Her own hands were shaking from the excitement of the moment. This was.. so big for her. So amazing.
I can't wait to tell Jenny.. and my parents! and his parents!! Once the ring was on her finger she fell to her knees and into his arms hugging him tightly. This was the most perfect way for him to ask and it was something she would surely never forget.
