An athletic but curvy asian woman, Suzaku is 5’7” but her powerful presence makes her feel taller. She is as comfortable in silk suits and asian dresses as she is in her training gear. Silken black hair hits her waist but is pinned up most of the time, her face beautifully painted for an enhanced natural exquisiteness made more exotic by the rare jade eyes. Most of her body she hides from the world.. a painted masterpiece covering her entire back, buttocks, thighs and down her arms in half sleeves… her yakuza tattoo, inked in the old way, endless hours of hypnotically painful needle pounded ink. Her chest left bare of the twisted imagery to allow for the low cut of blouses she is prone to wearing under her suits. The ink depicts war, power, death and embedded among the colors is the phoenix dragon… a symbol of who she was… and still is.

From the outside she can be seen as an ice queen.. cold and indifferent… very Japanese. But to those that truly know her, Suzaku is fiercely loyal and warm in her own way. She has a sly sense of humor that comes out when she is relaxed and a soft spot in her heart for music and art. Though do not mistake this for weakness either. She is ambitious, seeking a place among the heavy hitters of the city. After all, the firebird boils her blood.

Strengths::
■Her fighting skills, especially with swords. She is extensively trained in hand to hand and sword fighting from her years as wakagashira, first lieutenant, to the kumicho in Japan.
■Leadership and intelligence – she was wakagashira for a reason, the boss had his position by brute force, she had hers by being smarter than all the rest. She has a natural charisma that makes others want to follow her… to impress her. Her presence makes people worried about letting her down, not for fear of repercussion.. but fear of her disappointment in them.
■Her loyalty is fierce… she expects others to be loyal but gives it in return.
■An uncanny ability to spot real art… there is not a single forgery in the Guggenheim as she spotted them long before they made her walls.
■Not known by many but she has a natural balance and rhythm that was learned perfecting traditional Japanese Geisha dances.

Weaknesses::
■She has been known to have a short temper whenever disrespect or disloyalty is shown, and her temper burns hot and fast.
■Water – a “phoenix” by nature she has a fear of bodies of water as well as gets cold very quickly when she is wet, like her fire has gone out.
■Her aversion to guns has put her in danger more than once, a sword is a poor combatant against a Glock.
■Mistrustful of new people – those she was once very close to betrayed her, now her trust is hard to earn which is why the yakuza clan she leads is still so small.
■A battle injury from her escape from Japan has left her with a partial loss of hearing in her left ear which is why she always is strategically placing herself to the left of conversations to ensure she does not miss anything said.

Spiritual Convictions::Shinto – though it is more via association than heavy practice.

Outside of the extensive art collection she has amassed for the Guggenheim, Suzaku has a large personal collection of ancient asian weapons, a particular fondness of hers. She has a small collection of expensive jewelry that is more for investment than any real affection for the pieces.
