The theater was rather quiet these days, save for people behind the scenes. There was plenty of chatter from time to time, with people discussing their parts and rehearsing lines. Stress was in the air.

A newcomer was sitting alone beside the crowd of veteran actors. A certain sense of distance and angst was amongst the two parties. The lead director had brought on a unfamiliar face into the hardened crowd, whom seemed to find it hard to accept anyone outside their circle.

Thus, Seras sat alone, her dainty hands almost quivering as she held the play book in front of her. Scouted off the streets, the girl had little prior acting experience, perhaps only a bit from her private school. However, she hadn't been in school since her departure from her old life and arrival into the states. The director saw potential in the fresh new face and left her little choice to say no. Of course she could still refuse, if the dhampir decided, but for now she found herself bored and lonely and stuck in a dress rehearsal for a play she knew nothing about. To make matters worse, the girl was cast in one of the lead female roles. The odds were not all stacked against her, however, as the halfbreed vampire possessed a wondrous voice that could win the hearts of nearly any crowd, though she wouldn't dare admit it herself.

After standing on the stage, alone, in a period costume not too far off from any girl's princess fantasies, Seras took a deep breath and wowed the few production staff members that were still skeptical of her lack of experience. Thankfully it was to be somewhat of a musical. This girl could steal the show, much to the other actors' hatred.

But Seras wasn't naive or stupid. She could tell she wasn't well liked and felt horribly uncomfortable in her current situation. Even though her voice carried well and every man in the small audience and the neighborhood who may have heard it carrying with the wind was mesmerized, everyone else hated her out of jealousy. How could such a fine, pretty young girl also be blessed with the voice of a goddess? Perhaps it was a trait of vampirism to posses immeasurable beauty and perfection, though Seras thought nothing of the sort of herself.

Without warning, Seras turned to meet a swift palm slap upon her cheek. It knocked her off her feet and caused her to stumble a bit off balance and fall upon her bottom. The other women were not very pleased with her performance making them all look terrible.

"You little wench! If you know what's good for you, you'd better take your ass elsewhere. This play is for us Humans only."

With a little "hmph", they all left her side, leaving the little girl there dumbfounded and again, all alone. One of her heels broken, and her dress scuffled, Seras didn't even bother standing up. 'They were right, afterall', she kept telling herself. Just when the girl thought she could finally find a place to belong and make a name for herself in the new city, the girl found herself once again scared and alone. Truth be told, the other women in the troupe had been at her throat for days now, ever since their boss brought her in. Was it out of jealousy? Most likely.
