Pandora

Dika did look, watching out the window at the mass of people just milling about in a seemingly aimless way. Atticus had said 'the dead', and so Dika realized they were zombies; victims of the morteximius-virus. Dika looked on with a mix of dread and intrigue.

 

He hadn't ever come across them before, and was curious as to what they were like. On the other hand, he knew it would be stupidly reckless to just head out into the field like that, totally unprepared and completely outnumbered. Dika knew it was dangerous, but he felt strangely drawn to them.

 

Normal people who were living their lives; and now were forever changed by this thing that had happened. Of course that was a wildly unfair comparison. Dika could real people, see magic, and commune with the spirits; whereas these people were mindless shamblers, doomed to forever roam the earth as such and be seen as a plague on humanity.

 

They were cursed and he was blessed and it made him thankful that he survived; now to be thriving in a new place with a job and a home. Dika sat back and began to tear up; overcome with grief for them and joy for himself. He pulled tissues out from a pocket and wiped his tears away, sniffling.

 

Dika remained silent as they continued to drive, wanting to see what lay ahead; and wanting to put his feelings aside and the dead behind.
